The UAE Cabinet has taken a significant step towards integrating artificial intelligence into the educational landscape by approving a new curriculum for all public and private schools. This initiative is part of a broader national strategy to enhance AI use in both education and government services. The curriculum is designed to equip students with foundational knowledge of AI, covering essential topics such as data, algorithms, applications, risks, and ethical considerations. Additionally, the program aims to train 22,000 teachers and educators in effectively incorporating AI into their teaching practices, from lesson planning and curriculum development to assessment.
UAE Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasized the importance of continuous learning for educators to adequately prepare students for a future marked by rapid technological change. In line with this focus on AI, the Cabinet has also endorsed a new AI advisory system intended to assist government ministers in policy review. This system includes 32 specialized AI assistants tasked with analyzing proposals, evaluating their potential impacts, studying international best practices, and providing recommendations aligned with the UAE’s national priorities.
In a move to advance technological innovation further, the Cabinet has approved a regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles. This framework outlines the procedures for testing, inspecting, registering, and licensing self-driving vehicles within the UAE. It is designed to support the shift towards cleaner transportation solutions and alleviate traffic congestion, reflecting the government’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies.
The UAE government has also reported substantial progress in its digital transformation efforts, with hundreds of millions of digital transactions carried out through government services in the past year. This achievement is complemented by the implementation of numerous digital transformation projects, underscoring the country’s dedication to enhancing its digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved a National Ecotourism Policy and reviewed ongoing initiatives under the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022–2030. These efforts focus on ecosystem protection, land rehabilitation, and the preservation of native vegetation, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside its technological advancements.
