Robert Pattinson is taking on a bold new role in the thriller “Primetime,” which draws inspiration from the controversial US TV show “To Catch a Predator.” The film, set to debut at the Venice Film Festival, will make its way to cinemas later this month. In this project, Pattinson portrays a fictionalized version of Chris Hansen, the television host recognized for confronting alleged child predators by setting up meetings with undercover investigators pretending to be minors.
Hansen has praised Pattinson’s performance, though he has also hinted at the possibility of considering legal action against the film. “Primetime” is a significant project for Pattinson, not only because of his leading role but also as it marks his first feature film to earn him a producer credit through his production company. The movie is directed by Lance Oppenheim, a 30-year-old filmmaker, and produced by the independent studio A24.
This year has proven to be a successful one for Pattinson at the box office. In addition to “Primetime,” he has starred in “The Drama” alongside Zendaya and “The Odyssey.” Fans can also look forward to his return in the third installment of the “Dune” franchise, set to hit theaters later this year.
