The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Greece have further solidified their economic relationship through significant agreements and investment plans. During the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum held in Athens, the two nations finalized 18 memoranda of understanding, agreements, and commercial partnerships valued at over €12.75 billion. This forum coincided with the official visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and was attended by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, along with senior officials and business leaders from both countries.
In addition to these agreements, the UAE announced a substantial plan to invest an additional €15 billion in Greece. This initiative aims to enhance long-term economic collaboration and support projects within key sectors. Industries impacted by these agreements include digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and food security. These partnerships are designed to stimulate private sector investment, create new business opportunities, and strengthen commercial ties between the two nations.
UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi highlighted the forum as a demonstration of the growing confidence in the UAE-Greece partnership. He emphasized the importance of turning investment commitments into practical projects that foster employment and sustainable economic growth. Dr. Al Zeyoudi also pointed out the complementary nature of the two economies, with the UAE serving as a global hub for trade and Greece acting as a gateway to European markets.
The forum also focused on enhancing food security through robust supply chains and expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Business-to-business meetings and investment-matching sessions offered companies the chance to explore joint ventures and form new commercial partnerships, further deepening the bilateral economic ties.
Overall, the recent agreements and investment announcements reflect a concerted effort by both the UAE and Greece to deepen economic cooperation, diversify their economic engagements, and promote growth led by the private sector across various priority industries.
