The European Union has underscored its expanding partnership with the United Arab Emirates, highlighting a broadening scope of cooperation that spans trade, investment, climate change, artificial intelligence, technology, and security. According to a statement from the EU, the relationship with the UAE has evolved from diplomatic ties into a comprehensive economic, political, and security partnership, facilitated by geographical proximity and robust trade and investment links.
The EU noted that the UAE is its second-largest trade partner, while the EU stands as the primary investment partner for the UAE. Beyond trade, collaboration has extended to sectors like artificial intelligence, clean energy, technology, and regional connectivity, illustrating the dynamic nature of this partnership.
Following their collaboration at COP28, the EU and UAE are pushing forward with initiatives to explore opportunities in the green economy and artificial intelligence. Efforts are also focused on strengthening connections between Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, as well as promoting the exchange of technology and expertise.
In addition to economic and technological cooperation, the EU emphasized ongoing efforts with the UAE to address regional security and resilience, particularly in light of escalating security challenges in the area. This comprehensive partnership reflects a strategic alignment aimed at fostering stability and growth across multiple sectors.
