German President Meets UAE President Sheikh Mohamed in Berlin Talks

During his state visit to Germany, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in significant discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin, focusing on enhancing the bilateral relations that have flourished over the past 50 years through a strategic partnership. His itinerary included visits to the Bundestag and the Neue Wache war memorial, reflecting the significance of this diplomatic engagement.

The UAE President is also slated to meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration, particularly in economic and developmental areas. The two countries are poised to formalize agreements related to artificial intelligence, energy, and investment, signaling a commitment to advancing their economic partnership.

Established in 1972, the diplomatic relations between the UAE and Germany were further solidified with a strategic partnership agreement in 2004. With bilateral trade surpassing $15.5 billion in 2025, the economic dimension of their relationship continues to grow in importance. This visit by a UAE president, the first of its kind to Germany, marks a pivotal chapter in the expanding partnership between the two nations.
