New Zealand has adjusted its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates, downgrading the warning from Level 3, which discouraged non-essential travel, to Level 2. This change encourages travelers to exercise increased caution while visiting or transiting through the UAE.
The updated advisory reflects a positive step for New Zealanders eager to visit the UAE, as emphasized by New Zealand Ambassador to the UAE Richard Kay. He expressed optimism that travelers can now explore or pass through the region while remaining vigilant and adhering to local guidance due to the potential for changing security conditions.
This development aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to rejuvenate its tourism industry, which faced disruptions due to regional conflicts. Recent data indicates a rebound in international tourism to Dubai, with 869,000 overnight visitors recorded in August, marking the highest monthly total since February. Additionally, hotel occupancy rates in Dubai surged to 66 percent in August, a significant increase from 36 percent in March.
The UAE’s tourism sector is keen on further removing travel restrictions from other countries to bolster its recovery. While several nations have already relaxed their advisories, some still urge travelers to be cautious or avoid non-essential trips. The easing of New Zealand’s advisory is expected to stimulate travel demand between the two countries, contributing to the ongoing revival of the UAE’s tourism and aviation industries.
