The United Arab Emirates has expressed its support for a recent U.S. appeal for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan, alongside efforts to achieve a political resolution to the ongoing conflict. UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan highlighted the nation’s backing of international initiatives aimed at ending the violence and establishing a political process that would lead to a civilian government in Sudan.
Sheikh Shakhboot emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region, underscoring the urgency of ending hostilities and engaging in comprehensive political dialogue. The UAE has also advocated for the expansion of the existing United Nations arms embargo to cover the entirety of Sudan’s territory, positing that such measures could help curb the influx of weapons and enhance civilian protection.
The UAE has committed to collaborating with international partners to support a political solution and alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict in Sudan. The call for a humanitarian truce and expanded arms embargo reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to contribute to regional stability and peace.
